  1. PSTC has a Class B Permanent for a Capt/Capt MOS ID/Occupation 90024-GSO to commence on 25-OCT-2021 until 24-OCT-2024. Only personnel from the following Component/Sub-Component may apply for this position: Primary Reserve Force, Supplementary Reserve Force, Regular Force.

      • Unit Qualifications Remarks:
        • Instructional ability/experience. Must be comfortable instructing a wide variety of students from the rank of Cpl to Col as well as foreign military personnel. Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite 2010 products, excellent organizational ability, knowledge of CF administrative procedures and programs, e.g. Monitor Mass, and the ability to multi-task. Willingness and ability to move internal to PSTC as an organization.

  3. Secondary requirements of position, as applic:
    • Possession of qualifications as they relate to PSTC's instructional mandate (UNMEM, SFCB, CIMIC, PSYOPS, IO) is desireable. Training will be provided to successful candidate if required. Operational experience is an asset.
  4. Basic description of duties: The selected Officer Instructor is to provide supervision, management, direction and leadership to the squadron staff and personnel tasked in support of training. The Officer Instructor is responsible for the conduct and maintenance of lectures as designated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the PSTC's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    The Officer Instructor must also act as a leader for those who are undergoing training. In this regard the Officer Instructor must gain trainee confidence and remain open to their requests and suggestions for courseware content of delivery improvements or amendments. The Officer Instructor must act as a mentor and be prepared to tailor the delivery of the material to individual students, providing real-world examples when possible; thus promoting student understanding. Must be capable of assuming other roles within PSTC as staffing levels require.

    DUTIES AND TASKS
    1. Primary Duties. The Officer Instructor is responsible for:

    a. Assisting the Cell Leader with the development, coordination, administration and delivery of courses and training for PSTC courses and individual training for which PSTC is designated CoE. Courses and/or Training may be conducted in-house in Kingston or anywhere inside of Canada;

    b. The development and maintenance of POs/EOs, lesson plans and exercises for all courses and those subjects for which designated as the unit's SME;

    c. Developing and maintaining expertise in the subjects as designated by SME;

    d. Maintaining currency of courseware and subjects through review of external references and resources;

    e. Providing leadership to course staff and students to ensure the team works efficiently to deliver the most relevant, effective and realistic training possible given time and resource constraints;

    f. Monitoring the delivery of lectures given by PSTC staff and guest presenters;

    g. Ensuring student files are completed IAW CAO 24-8; and

    h. Preparing student evaluations IAW the respective TP.

    Secondary Duties
    a. As detailed by the Chain of Command, provide assistance to other PSTC courses and training, whether inside or outside of Canada;

    b. Possibility of occasionally working irregular hours which may include evenings and/or weekends such as, but not limited to, Unit/Garrison Duty Officer; and

    c. Be prepared to assume other roles as directed by the chain of command.
