  4. Basic description of duties: A. Management & coordination of Information Technology & Telecommunications services and support to 5 CDSB Det Aldershot:
    1. Information Technology:
    (a) Manage and coordinate with SMC, SSC and 14 Wing TIS, IT infrastructure within the confines of Det Aldershot;
    (b) Recommend and implement local information technology policy and the provision of technical advice;
    (c) Develop and manage the long term Information Technology & plan for equipment;
    (d) Initiate the procurement, provision and distribution of Det Aldershot IT;
    (e) Develop and improve Det Aldershot IT resources;
    (f) Promulgate 5 CDSB Det Aldershot IT policies with guidance from ISSO; and
    (g) Implement IT security methods and procedures.
    2. Communications:
    (a) Provide Communication policy and technical advice to the Det ISSO and Det Aldershot staff;
    (b) Implement Army IS policy and direction at Det ISSO via preparation of orders and instructions for local operating drills, procedures and methods; and
    (c) Coordinate administration, maintenance and improvements of all infrastructure telecommunications and radio systems.
    3. Communication Security (COMSEC):
    (a) Develop & coordinate new COMSEC material and equipment requirements as required.
    4. Communication, Operations and Training:
    (a) Prepare and issue IS plans to support 5 CDSB Det Aldershot operations and training including IBTS briefings;
    (b) Initiate the provision of strategic communication services and facilities from outside organizations & agencies for Det Aldershot activities through required SSC and SMC channels;
    (c) In conjunction with the 5 CDSB Det Aldershot staff prepare all Communications and Information technology budget estimates; and
    (d) Responsible for creating\managing Information Technology Infrastructure (ITI) requests, create\manage Requests For Change (RFC) in support of 5 CDSB Det Aldershot.
    5. Communication\Information Technology Equipment:
    (a) Coordinate & manage the inventory of all communication/IT/mobile wireless equipment held by 5 CDSB Det Aldershot; and
    (b) Coordinate the distribution or temporary loan of communication, IT, mobile wireless, radios and frequencies within 5 CDSB Det Aldershot.
    6. Technology:
    (a) Identify and develop proposals that will increase the efficiency or capabilities through the use of new or improved Information Systems or communication technology.
    7. Liaison:
    (a) Liaise with Shared Services Canada, BIS, NDHQ Directorates and other units or departments as required regarding the provision of support, policies, national information systems implementation plans and funding.
