  1. HMCS CHIPPAWA has a Class B Permanent for a Capt/Capt MOS ID/Occupation 00002-01-Officer, or 90000-ATR to commence on 01-SEP-2018 until 31-AUG-2021. Only personnel from the following Component/Sub-Component may apply for this position: Primary Reserve Force, Regular Force, Supplementary Reserve Force.

  4. Basic description of duties: The Training Officer reports to the Commanding Officer for everything concerning onboard individual and operational training and professional development, and to the Executive Officer for all matters regarding the administration of his department. Among other things, the Training Officer is responsible for the following but not limited to:



    a. ensuring that the onboard training organization are run smoothly;



    b. in collaboration with the other departments, ensuring that all supervisory and administrative action is taken to achieve the individual and operational training objectives;



    c. carrying out the planning and coordination required to optimize training on board;



    d. assessing each training-related problem and, if possible, opting for a solution that takes into account professional development and personal satisfaction;



    e. ensuring that the deadlines of NAVRESHQ and of the various training establishments are met, and that their policies are adhered to;



    f. overseeing communications with the various training establishments within the CF;



    g. identifying professional development courses and making them available to crew members (e.g. CF Military Studies Program (CFMSP), Alternative dispute resolution (ADR), harassment advisor's courses, etc.);



    h. ensuring that the Training Department's state of readiness and efficiency is at the highest level;



    i. preparing all required internal and external reports as well as messages relating to individual and operational training, and submitting them at the appropriate time;



    j. preparing and assisting the Training evaluation visit by NAVRES HQ/N31 with the Training Chief Petty Officer and if available, with the Training Coordinator and the Training Standard Officer;



    k. initiating the training review process when required;



    l. overseeing the departmental administration, which includes the proper processing of department correspondence, cleanliness, the security and maintenance of premises occupied by the members of the department, department member training, and proper execution of divisional duties;



    m. coordinating the operational and logistic needs of the Training Department; and



    n. acting as Divisional Officer for the Training Department.
