  1. 4 Cdn Div HQ has a Class B Permanent for a Capt/Capt MOS ID/Occupation 00203-07-PAO, or 00002-01-Officer, or 00001-GSO or NCM to commence on 23-JUL-2018 until 23-JUL-2021. Only personnel from the following Component/Sub-Component may apply for this position: Regular Force, Primary Reserve Force, Supplementary Reserve Force.
  2. Essential requirements are as fols:
    1. Rank: Capt/Capt
      LT/SLT MAY BE CONSIDERED ONLY IF CANDIDATES AT THE RANK OF CAPT/LT(N) OR LT/SLT QUALIFIED FOR PROMOTION ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
    2. MOS ID: 00203-07-PAO, or 00002-01-Officer, or 00001-GSO or NCM
    3. Language: English essential
    4. Security clearance: Secret
    5. Health: BE MED/DENT FIT
    6. Physical fitness: MUST BE PHYSICALLY FIT
    7. Required experience and quals:
      • Course Remarks:
        • (1) STRONG VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS, ENGLISH ESSENTIAL, BUT PREFERABLY IN BOTH OFFICIAL LANGUAGES;

          (2) EXCELLENT INTERPERSONAL SKILLS;

          (3) SELF-STARTER WHO CAN WORK UNDER PRESSURE;

          (4) ABLE TO WORK EXTENDED HOURS INCLUDING EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS AS REQUIRED;

          (5) STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS;

          (6) EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS/PUBLIC RELATIONS PLANNING, COMPLETION AND DELIVERY OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS;

          (7) ABLE TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY OR IN A TEAM BASED ENVIRONMENT;

          (8) UPAR QUALIFICATION AND/OR RBPAOC OR A COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, INCLUDING PUBLIC AFFAIRS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, MARKETING, MEDIA RELATIONS OR JOURNALISM;

          (9) STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND APPLICABLE COMMUNICATIONS METHODS; and

          (10) KNOWLEDGE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN, PHOTO EDITING AND IMAGERY PROCESSING IS AN ASSET.

  3. Secondary requirements of position, as applic:
    • Will be required to work rotational duty shifts including evenings and weekends

      Will be required to carry a blackberry.
  4. Basic description of duties: A. ADVISE CHAIN OF COMMAND ON ALL MATTERS REGARDING INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS INCLUDING MEDIA RELATIONS;

    B. INTEGRATE PUBLIC AFFAIRS DIRECTIVES INTO THE DEVELOPMENT OF PA ANNEXES AND PA PLANS;

    C. PROVIDE REGULAR AND CONSISTENT COMMUNICATIONS WITH EXTERNAL AUDIENCES AT DIRECTION OF CHAIN OF COMMAND;

    D. PROMOTE 4 CDN DIV/JTFC AND CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ACHIEVEMENTS THROUGH INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS AND EXTERNAL MEDIUMS, INCLUDING SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS;

    E. PREPARE AND DELIVER PUBLIC AFFAIRS BRIEFINGS TO CAF MEMBERS PRIOR TO EXERCISES, OPERATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS ACTIVITIES;

    F. ACT AS ON-SITE PUBLIC AFFAIRS REPRESENTATIVE AT COMMUNITY RELATIONS EVENTS ACROSS 4 CDN DIV/JTFC; AND

    G. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY DIV PAO.
