GENERAL INFORMATION

Commander LFDTS has been delegated the authority to manage and conduct all national military skills competitions conducted by the Army, to manage the Army’s participation in all international military skills competitions and to provide guidance for Army participation in operational evaluations and military skills competitions conducted by units, brigades, LFAs, the Army or the CF across Canada. The Director of Army Training (DAT), on behalf of Commander LFDTS, defines Army responsibilities with respect to operational evaluations and military skills competitions as follows:

  1. Provides Army policy and guidance on operational evaluations and military skills competitions;
  2. Provides input into the Army OPLAN on military skills competitions;
  3. Acts as the initial Army point of contact for the development of new operational evaluations and military skills competitions or requests to participate in international military skills competitions;
  4. Coordinates the Army’s participation in national and international military  skills competitions; and
  5. Updates and amends this LFCO as required.

LFDTS will:

  1. Task and allocate the resources required to support participation in formation, national and international military skills competitions within their business plan as required;
  2. Plan and conduct Army and CF mandated military skills competitions; and
  3. Participate in national and international military skills competitions.

LFAs will:

  1. Task and allocate the resources required to support participation in brigade, LFA, national and international military skills competitions within their business plan as required;
  2. Plan and conduct area military skills competitions; and
  3. Participate in national and international military skills competitions.

Units and brigades will:

  1. Task and allocate the resources required to support participation in unit, brigade, LFA, national and international military skills competitions within their business plan as required;
  2. Plan and conduct unit and brigade military skills competitions;
  3. Participate in LFA military skills competitions as directed by the LFA Comd; and
  4. Participate in national and international military skills competitions.
